Lisa Lavelle

Lisa began her educational pursuits in nursing, but soon realized that psychology was her path.  She switched majors and received her Bachelors degree in Psychology.  She continued her education and earned a master’s in counseling.  She obtained her LSW and LICDC-CS after she finished her education.  Her career began working with the homeless population when the first homeless treatment team was developed in Columbus.  The multiple issues included mental health, but the agency did not address substance use, which was a common issue with this population.  She switched employers and began her work at a MAT clinic.  Here the clients could access treatment for both mental health and substance use.  During the 26 years she served at the clinic she began a female only IOP.  Her focus then began on issues that are unique to women in treatment.  Over the years trauma care came to the forefront and new programs were developed to address the multitude of issues that are a result of trauma.  Ms. Lavelle has discontinued direct care with clients but has been a supervisor for those wanting to serve the substance use treatment population.  She has served for over 35 years and is gearing up for retirement.  She enjoys traveling, gardening and making jewelry.
